Ingredients for Salad with Smoked Mackerel and Potatoes
- Potato 8 pieces
- 2 carrots
- Red onion 1 piece
- Pitted olives 10 pieces
- Smoked mackerel 200 grams
- Salt 1/2 teaspoon (for cooking vegetables)
- Lemon 1 piece (large)
- Fresh parsley 1/2 bunch
- Olive oil 2 tablespoons

Saucepan, kitchen knife, salad bowl, fork, tablespoon, cutting board.
Step 1: prepare the ingredients.
Peel potatoes and carrots thoroughly and rinse with cool water. Cut the vegetables into large pieces.
Rinse olives properly, you can even scald them.
Rinse and dry the greens.
Peel the onion.
Step 2: cook the vegetables.
Put the carrots and potatoes in a pan, fill with water, add salt and put the vegetables to boil until soft (should be easily pierced with a fork).
After cooking, do not let the vegetables cool to make the salad warm.
Step 3: grind the fish.
Peel the mackerel of skin and bones, and mash the pulp with a fork or cut into small cubes (I chose the latter).
Step 4: chop the vegetables.
Cut olives into cubes, finely chop the greens with a knife, chop the onion in half rings. And cut carrots and potatoes into large pieces so that they stand out clearly in the salad.
Step 5: mix the salad with smoked mackerel and potatoes.
Mix all prepared ingredients in a deep plate.
Squeeze the juice from the lemon and mix it with olive oil, and then pour the resulting sauce into the salad. Stir everything carefully so as not to crush potatoes and mackerel.
Serve warm, immediately after cooking, or chilled.

Smoked mackerel and potato salad is a simple, tasty and truly homemade dish. If you love fish as much as I do, you will definitely like this dish and you will cook it often enough. From the festive table, by the way, when there are many guests, a salad with smoked mackerel flies away just at the moment.
